UV Protection Test
- Test Purpose: To evaluate the ultraviolet blocking and absorption capacity of textiles, ensuring products can effectively reduce UV damage to human skin. It also provides a scientific basis for enterprise quality control, market compliance and consumer purchasing.
- Applicable Scope: Sun protection scenarios such as outdoor work, seaside vacation, daily commuting, and summer outdoor activities. Typical products include sun-protective clothing, sun hats, parasols, outdoor tents, etc.
- Key Standards: In accordance with GB/T 18830-2009 Textiles — Evaluation for Ultraviolet Protective Performance. Requirements:
UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) ≥ 40; UPF 50+ can block more than 98% of ultraviolet rays;
UVA transmittance ≤ 5%.
Cool Sensation Test
- Test Purpose: To measure the instantaneous heat transfer efficiency when textiles come into contact with skin and verify whether the product can quickly dissipate skin heat to deliver a cool tactile feeling. It provides data support for functional promotion and quality control of cool-feeling products.
- Applicable Scope: Scenarios requiring instant cooling, such as daily summer wear, outdoor sports, high-temperature operation, and household textiles. Typical products include cool-feeling T-shirts, cooling bedding, sportswear, etc.
- Key Standards: In accordance with GB/T 35263-2017 *Textiles — Testing and evaluation of instantaneous contact coolness performance*. Products with instantaneous contact coolness coefficient **Qmax ≥ 0.15 J/(cm²·s)** can be labeled with promotional claims such as "cool sensation" and "ice sensation".
FZ/T 73067-2020 *Contact coolness knitted garments* specifies more detailed requirements on the coolness coefficient of knitted apparel.
Heat Retention Rate Test
- Test Purpose: To evaluate the capability of textiles to prevent heat loss and quantify their thermal insulation effect. It serves as a core indicator for judging the warmth performance of winter apparel and home textile products. For instance, national regulations stipulate that the heat retention rate of thermal underwear shall be no less than 30%.
- Applicable Scope: Textiles with warmth requirements, including winter cold-proof clothing (down jackets, cotton-padded coats, thermal underwear, etc.), bedding (quilts, blankets) and outdoor functional fabrics.
- Key Standards: National standards include GB/T 35762-2017 Textiles — Test Method for Heat Transfer Performance — Flat Plate Method and GB/T 11048-2018 Textiles — Physiological Comfort — Determination of Thermal and Water-Vapour Resistance under Steady-State Conditions (Sweating Guarded-Hotplate Test).
There is no unified international standard specifically for heat retention rate, which is usually measured indirectly by indicators such as thermal resistance and Clo value.
Air Permeability Test
- Test Purpose: To determine the air permeability of textiles and assess wearing comfort, avoiding stuffiness caused by poor air circulation. It also affects comprehensive properties such as wind resistance and moisture permeability of outdoor garments.
- Applicable Scope: Products requiring good air permeability, such as sportswear, summer close-fitting apparel, outdoor shell jackets, infant textiles, and home textile fabrics.
- Key Standards: National GB/T 5453-2025 Textiles — Determination of Fabric Air Permeability; International standards including ISO 9237, ASTM D737, DIN 53887 and JIS L1096.
